PSE Prepares for Flooding….you should too.
Not only does the valley need to prepare for flooding so do other residents.
Preparing for potential flooding
Puget Sound Energy is preparing for a 1 in 4 chance of significant flooding in the Green River Valley this and subsequent storm seasons due to the reduced water storage capacity behind the Howard Hanson Dam, which was damaged in January 2009 following heavy rains that resulted in a record-high level of water behind the dam.
The Lower Green River Subwatershed, which includes the Green River Valley, is home to critical PSE infrastructure, including two bulk electric transmission substations, a primarily underground electric and natural gas distribution system, as well as some of our key operating facilities, including our Central Stores warehouse, South King Service Center, and service center for natural gas and electric system construction crews, which together house 200 PSE employees and substantial equipment for the entire PSE natural gas and electric system.
We are implementing mitigation efforts and developing operational plans to be able to leave power on and natural gas flowing for as long as safely possible during potential flood events.

There will be a quick page with all the links to information pages in the next few days or week. We are fine tuning this as we go. Will be more visual content once we/I get the bugs worked out and figure out if it is operator error or not.
