Post Office hangs out the ‘Help Wanted’ sign
Need a job this holiday season? The U.S. Postal Service can help.
The USPS has announced plans to hire additional temporary employees at facilities across Western Washington to help process the additional mail during the holidays.
We’re told mailhandler and postal support employee clerk positions are available at the following locations:
Seattle Christmas Facility (near Sea-Tac Airport); Priority Mail Annex in Kent; Network Distribution Center in Federal Way, and at the processing and distribution facilities in Seattle, Everett, Tacoma, Olympia, Wenatchee, Yakima, Pasco and Spokane.
Hours depend on the volume of mail and pay ranges from $11 an hour to $14.60 an hour. There are no benefits offered as these are non-career positions.
The USPS is also looking for some temporary tractor-trailer and motor vehicle drivers. To apply you must have a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License. Pay for those positions ranges from $15.52 to $15.85 an hour.
Here’s how to apply from the USPS:
Interested parties must apply for the positions online at the Postal Service’s website – usps.com. At the website, go to the bottom of the page and click on “Rewarding Opportunities.” On the right hand side click on “Search Jobs Online.” Under “Location” select Washington. Leave “ZIP Code” and “Functional Area” blank and click on “Start.” Find a job position that you want to apply for and click “Apply.”
All applicants must be at least 18 at the time of hire (or age 16 with a high school diploma) and be a U.S. citizen or have permanent alien status.
