City of Kent garbage collection makeup days and tree limb removal

KENT, Wash. – January 23, 2012 – Last week’s ice and snow storm prevented safe garbage collection in Kent Wednesday through Friday. Allied Waste will make up missed service by collecting a double load at no extra charge on this week’s regular service dates.

· January 16 make-up collection will be January 23

· January 17 make-up collection will be January 24

· January 18 make-up collection will be January 25

· January 19 make-up collection will be January 26

· January 20 make-up collection will be January 27

Please note: these make-up collections are for garbage only. Curbside yard debris and recycling collection is on an every-other-week alternating schedule, so yard debris and recycling make-up collections occur two weeks after weather conditions prevent regular curbside recycling service.

Residents with trees or branches to dispose of can place them in their green Yard and Food Waste carts. They must be trimmed to less than 4 feet in length and not exceed 4 inches in diameter. “If you have more than your cart will hold, you may place them in cardboard boxes, paper or compostable bags, or tied in bundles less than 3 ½ feet in any dimension as long as it doesn’t exceed 60 pounds,” said Public Works Director, Tim LaPorte.

Residents with more limbs than will fit into Yard and Food Waste carts can save them for the next scheduled collection day, or dispose of them at the following locations, (fees may apply):

· Cedar Grove Composting in Maple Valley, 425-432-2395

· Rainier Wood Recyclers in Covington, 425-222-0008

· Pacific Topsoils in Tukwila 1-800-884-7645
